Types of Coverage

(1) All Covered Products would have coverage for:

Claim Details

  • blue_check_circle Accidental Damage from Handling and Mechanical and Electrical Breakdowns
    • Unlimited claims with a cap of $2,500 per approved claim, with a total annual coverage cap of $6,000 on home electronics. There is no annual coverage cap for mobile phones.
  • blue_check_circle Loss and Theft
    • 2 approved claims with a cap of $2,500 per approved claim in any rolling 12-month period.

    Claims can be filed immediately after enrollment and must be reported within 60 days of the incident. Customers have 30 days from opening a claim to provide all necessary documentation, otherwise the claim will be closed. A non-refundable deductible is required for all claims.

Fulfillment

We will fulfill the claim based on device and geographic location in one of the following ways:

  • blue_check_circle Mail-In Repair: We will provide a prepaid mailing label, allowing customers to self-package and send their device for repair. Once the repair is completed, the device is shipped back directly to the customer.
  • blue_check_circle Walk-In Repair: We will offer repairs at select walk-in locations where available.
  • blue_check_circle Replacement: Once the device is received, we will replace it with a like-kind device (color may vary).
  • blue_check_circle Reimbursement: We will issue the customer an Electronic Disbursement via email.

What is the program?

Farmers Total Device Protection is coverage for a household's mobile phones and certain consumer electronics (Covered Products). Covered Products (referenced below) will be repaired, replaced or reimbursed at market value if they have a Mechanical or Electrical Breakdown due to manufacturing defects. Portable Covered Products (which are a subset of Covered Products and are referenced on page 2), as well as mobile phones, are also repaired, replaced or reimbursed at market value* for Accidental Damage from Handling, as defined below, and are also reimbursed or replaced due to Loss and Theft.

Farmers has contracted Likewize as the Administrator of this program.

*Market value is defined as the amount one would receive if selling one’s covered device on the open market just before it was lost, stolen, or damaged. This value is determined based on the device's age, condition, and current market demand.

How does billing work?

  • blue_check_circle First month’s payment may be prorated based on the date of enrollment and charged at time of enrollment
  • blue_check_circle If the initial payment is prorated, customers can expect to pay their first full premium at the beginning of the following month
  • blue_check_circle The monthly premium is charged to the credit card provided during enrollment
  • blue_check_circle Customers can update their payment method anytime via their online account

What is the peril Accidental Damage from Handling?

Accidental Damage from Handling is a peril that refers to any single, unexpected, sudden and accidental damage that is externally visible, which prevents the proper operation of the Portable Covered Product. Accidental Damage from Handling includes accidental liquid spills and power surges.

It does not include accumulated damage from continual or multiple events or if the Portable Covered Product is submerged in water. In addition, it does not include damage from nature, flood, war, terrorism, fires, wind, lightning strikes or other Acts of God. A comprehensive list of the exclusions is in the service contract or insurance policies which can be found in the Resources section.

Does this coverage overlap with homeowners insurance?

Farmers Total Device Protection serves as primary coverage, complementing Farmers homeowners and renters insurance, which means that it provides coverage for Covered Products before a Farmers homeowners policy kicks in. This applies to the following Farmers policy types including, but not limited to, Renters, Home, Townhome, Mobile Home, Dwelling Fire, Condo; and covering brands including, but not limited to, Farmers®, Farmers GroupSelect®, Foremost®, Foremost Signature®, and Toggle®. Likewize will waive its deductible(s) if there is also a covered claim for Likewize Covered Products filed against a Farmers policy arising from any one loss event with any of the above brands.

What are the claim details?

It does not include accumulated damage from continual or multiple events or if the Portable Covered Product is submerged in water. In addition, it does not include damage from nature, flood, war, terrorism, fires, wind, lightning strikes or other Acts of God. Does this coverage overlap with homeowners insurance?

Farmers Home Device Protection serves as primary coverage, complementing Farmers homeowners and renters insurance, which means that it provides coverage for Covered Products before a Farmers homeowners policy kicks in. This applies to the following Farmers policy types including, but not limited to, Renters, Home, Townhome, Mobile Home, Dwelling Fire, Condo; and covering brands including, but not limited to, Farmers®, Farmers GroupSelect®, Foremost®, Foremost Signature®, and Toggle®.
